In France, the confinement lasted from March 17 to May 11, following that many businesses had to close their doors for health reasons.
The French waited impatiently for the deconfinement to return to the hairdresser. Nearly a million people go to the hairdresser every day throughout France and 59% of them wanted to go there from the first day of opening, according to a survey. For the 85,000 professionals, this return will have to be done with a lot of health precautions, whether in salons or at home, while taking into account the differences in the application of measures in these 2 activities. Health safety recommendation sheets, including updated health measures, posters for employees and customers, have been made available to establishments (Customer posters, Employee posters, Mask posters, Sales and a Prevention poster) as well as a Certificate Checklist.
The social partners wished to support the government and the hairdressers both in the procedure of barrier gestures (employers and employees) and in ensuring a sufficient supply of all the equipment necessary for the exercise of the activity, before any opening to public, during deconfinement. An official list of suppliers who can provide, in accordance with the standards in force, all the protections is also available.
Changes have occurred since the opening on May 11: Regular disinfection and generalized masks, ban on fans, no magazines or drinks available to customers, appointment recommended, the customer must come alone unless he accompanies a child, payment is recommended by bank card (contactless if possible) Finally, each new customer entering the salon must use hydroalcoholic gel made available at the entrance to the salon and be provided with a mask. The use of toilets is reserved for staff.
The safety instructions to be applied and put in place must be placed in full view of the client, and published on the website, if there is one. Hairdressers must be equipped with a mask and glasses and / or a transparent plastic visor which covers their face; the barber must wear a mask and a visor. Each hairdresser must sit his client more than one meter from another, just like when shampooing. Some salons have installed Plexiglas partitions between each client who is equipped with a bathrobe and disposable towels, this is also the case between the shampoo basins. After each customer, the work surfaces, work equipment, tools and materials including visors and glasses, handles and knobs for doors and cupboards, the payment terminal, the payment areas, must be disinfected. Sweeping required after each customer (Floor cleaning at least once a day using appropriate disinfection products). The tariffs have been slightly increased to cover the costs incurred for health measures. The schedules have also been reorganized as well as the opening days for a better reception of the public.
May 11 was therefore a long-awaited date for all those who suffered from too long hair, for others coloring (and / or streaks) had become necessary to cover the apparent roots. For those who had tried to play the apprentice hairdressers more or less successfully, it was time !!
In France, 2 hairdressers welcomed customers from midnight on May 11, the first in Mayenne and the second in the Paris region in Clichy-la-Garenne (92). To meet demand and above all not to shut down despite a suspension of credit and rent, the owner, Karine Granger had warned all her customers that she “organized a night all night” taking into account health rules that force everything to be cut in half, with the same charges. The number of its customers went from 12 to 4 and that of the staff from 4 to 2.
According to the salons, the sanitary measures vary, the size being indifferent. Some preferred a strong distance but no plexiglass, like many in the Bastille / Voltaire district, while others chose a strong protection by installing a special arrangement where each client finds himself in his “personal space” like the Alain lounge de Tréguier, Bd Henri IV (75004) which offers a safe arrangement (wooden frame and plexiglass) and even the possibility of waiting outside when the weather is nice (chairs spaced in front of the window). In this salon, redesigned for the comfort and safety of the client, the clientele is rushing to get their hair done and find the whole team of Alain and his collaborators (Laurent, N’nadie, Ashira and Servane) now from Monday to Saturday, always as friendly and professional.
