Christophe Alévêque presented his show written by him and performed at its premiere on Thursday March 10 at the Théâtre du Rond-Point in Paris. His show is directed by Philippe Sohier. The public will be able to enjoy it until April 3.
Christophe Alévêque is a committed humorist, he defends freedom of expression and in this show, he demonstrates that “You can be old fool and modern at the same time”. He has become a dad and wonders how to explain to his 2-year-old son what world he will live in.
Christophe Alévêque is fed up and he says it. After the two years of health crisis, he can no longer stand the world of Care Bears, well-meaning, being infantilized. He’s fed up. Christophe Alévêque denounces the fact that we can no longer do anything, neither drink, nor get drunk (beers without alcohol), nor eat, nor smoke, nor let go. The world must be perfect, sanitized; Nothing should happen to us. For him, there are no more surprises, no more lightness, no more carelessness, no more places or means to let off steam. Men no longer find their place in relation to the excesses made by some against women, in relation to the “Me Too” movement.
The comedian specifies that men have had power since the dawn of time and in a caustic funny form, have not been able to use it as it should. As a result, today, the power belongs to women.
He explains that over the years, he has changed. The character of “old Con” that he did not support at all, twenty years ago, he finds himself today in this name. Consequently, he rehabilitated the term “old jerk” insult of yesteryear as a compliment of the day. The artist no longer supports this world, these hypocrisies, despotism, moral, hygienic and safe. He can no longer stand the absence of debate, of critical thinking, this new censorship, the denunciation of some who have reappeared recently during the confinements, the alarmists, the givers of lessons, the so-called specialists, the disappearance of the individual in the advantage of a formatted and disciplined mass.
Christophe Alévêque highlights all the transformations that have taken place in recent years. The precautionary principle, the framework of our happiness, the politics of fear, withdrawal, systemic racism.
In a word, Christophe Alévêque can’t stand the labels we stick on everyone.
He decided to create “Le Club des Vieux Cons”. Old fools have no age, everyone can be. For Christophe Alévêque, “Le Vieux Con Moderne” has an unbridled imagination, unlike “current society which only tastes the framed imagination”.
Christophe Alévêque specifies that his show is not about the health crisis but it is a set of bad moods.
