Audrey Tautou artistic photography

At the 2025 Paris Photo Show, Audrey Tautou shares her photographic universe, blending introspection, self-portraits, and observation of strangers.

At the 2025 Paris Photo Show, Audrey Tautou shared her artistic vision during an engaging lecture, offering insights into her photographic journey. Since her iconic role in Amélie, the actress has gradually turned to photography, a passion she explores with sensitivity and depth.

During this session, she discussed her exhibition Superfacial, presented at Quai de la Photo in Paris from June 5 to September 10, 2025. This series of fifty photographs combines self-portraits, personal writings, and fan letters, offering an intimate reflection on fame and identity. She stated:

« I wanted to keep a trace of the time spent with all these strangers I would probably never see again. »

She elaborates:

« I wanted to keep a trace of the time spent with all these strangers I would probably never see again. It’s a documentation work that shows that behind media attention, there are all these people, all these gazes… None of it is anonymous. »

Audrey Tautou also photographs strangers from behind, encountered all over the world, often discreetly:

« What matters to me in all this is to observe people without having to endure their gaze, and to slip into their perspective, to wonder what they see. »

Self-portraiture allows her to reclaim her body and image:

« It allows me to be the captain of my own ship. I’m not here to satisfy or fulfill someone else’s wish, but to serve my imagination. »

Through her images, Tautou deconstructs the codes of public imagery, playing with self-mockery and staging. She invites the viewer into introspection, questioning the boundaries between artifice and reality. She explained:

« Putting my acting career on hold allowed me to finally give myself the time and mental space to realize all the ideas I had in mind. »

This lecture allowed the audience to discover a lesser-known side of the artist, closer to her emotions and personal reflections. A privileged moment to appreciate her sincere commitment to the world of photography.
