Perpignan: Visa for Image 2019 presents its Awards. Guillermo ARIAS wins the Paris Match News Golden Visa

Projection nights follow one another and bring their share of awards to award-winning photojournalists. « Visas » in the amount of 5000 or 8000 euros.


The ANI-PIXTRAKK Award celebrates its 10th anniversary. It was awarded to the French Nicolas KRIEF for « Accrochages » or behind the scenes of the major public exhibitions in the national museums.
The Golden Visa of the daily Press supported by Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole. On 22 titles in competition, the winner is the French daily LIBERATION, awarded for the work of Francesco ANSELMI on the wall on the border between USA and Mexico.


The CARMIGNAC Prize was awarded to Tommaso PROTTI, Italian photographer, for « Terra Vermelha, life and death in the Amazon in Brazil ».
The Golden Visa of Digital Information France Info, supported by France Media World (FMM), France Televisions (FTV), Radio France and INA. The jury chose to award « Made in France » by Mathias DESTAL, Geoffrey LIVOISI, Lorenzo TUGNOLI, Michel DESPRATX, Allaume LEROY and Tom FLANERY, for the French research site DISCLOSE. This investigation reveals the massive use of French weapons in the war in Yemen, which has caused the death of several thousand civilians over the past five years.


The International Humanitarian Visa of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was awarded to Abdulmonam EASSA, AFP’s Syrian photojournalist, for his report on the daily life of the inhabitants during the siege of Eastern Ghouta in Syria in 2018.
Axelle de RUSSE, French photojournalist, received the Pierre & Alexandra BOULAT Award 2019 supported by SCAM.
The Camille LEPAGE 2019 Prize, supported by SAIF, was awarded to Thomas MOREL-FORT to help him complete his report on Filipino domestic workers.
The Perpignan City Remi OCHLIK Award 2019 was awarded to Adriana LOUREIRO FERNANDEZ, Venezuelan photojournalist based in Caracas, for « Venezuela Paradise Lost ».
The Golden Visa Region Occitania / Pyrenees-Mediterranean, category Magazine was awarded to the Frenchman Frederic NOY for « The slow agony of Lake Victoria » lake that he has known for over thirty years.
The Honorary Visa of Figaro Magazine was awarded to William Albert ALLARD, American photographer-writer, a monument of photography that has published forty major photo reports in National Geographic over its 50-year career.


The CANON Women Photojournalist Bursary 2019 returns to Anush BABAJANYAN / VII Photo Agency, for its project on large families in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The 2019 YVES ROCHER Photo-FOUNDATION Award honors Nadia SHIRA COHEN, an American photographer based in Rome, for her project reporting on the tensions that have developed between Mayan beekeepers and Mennonites in Mexico.


Finally, the Visa d’Or Paris Match News, the most prestigious prize for photojournalism this year returns to the Mexican photographer Guillermo ARIAS / AFP for « The Caravan », report on the march of 2000 migrants from Honduras trying to reach the United States. United across Mexico.
