French director Cédric Klapisch and his team, including Cécile de France, walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival this Thursday, May 22, 2025, for the official screening of the feature film « The Coming of the Future, » selected out of competition.
A dramatic comedy featuring a host of well-known actors, including Julia Piaton, Vincent Macaigne, Zinedine Soualem, Sara Giraudeau, and Cécile de France. Cédric Klapisch also highlighted the emerging talents of French cinema, with the presence of Suzanne Lindon, Paul Kircher, Vassili Schneider, and Abraham Wapler.
To support the film, screened at the Grand Théâtre Lumière, and despite the powerful mistral wind, the entire team was there to climb the steps of the Palais des Festivals.
With « The Coming of the Future, » the French director offers a back-and-forth between 1895 and 2025 centered around the question of inheritance, which forces four cousins, who previously didn’t know each other, to reunite to discover their family history and thus attempt to uncover the secrets of their common ancestor, Adèle Vermillard (Suzanne Lindon).
From « Péril jeune » to « L’Auberge espagnole, » every generation has its Cédric Klapisch, but the director, who has sold 17 million tickets, had never been honored at Cannes. This injustice will be righted at the age of 63 at this 78th Festival. His latest film, « The Coming of the Future, » is being presented out of competition and released in French theaters at the same time. The entire team is on the red carpet.
