As France commemorates its National Day on July 14, the children of the world are celebrating for the second consecutive year, a Franco-Asian co-creation introduced by the Chinese ambassador to France, Lu Shaye and carried by Anath Tordjman Compagnon. After the Olympic Games, here are the Artistic Games. Let’s suggest that the children take paintbrushes and pencils for the occasion.
July 15, 2023 will once again be the opportunity to meet around the Artistic Games at the Carrousel du Louvre (75001). Children will be able to use their imagination by completing unfinished drawings by 5 recognized artists.
Back to the first edition
Last year, the first edition of the Artistic Games in France was held from June 4 to 18, 2022. It was divided into 2 parts, the opening in Paris on June 4 at the Carrousel du Louvre and an auction on June 18 June at the Château de Swann in Illiers-Combray in Eure-et-Loir (28). The profits have financed a retirement home for Cotentin cows who produce « Normandy 1905 » milk, exported to China.
This project was initiated by the Chinese writer and businessman Ya Ding, also owner of the « Sineterie » since 2016. It allowed a co-creation between children of the world and 5 confirmed artists: Sophie Sainrapt, Emmanuelle Renoir, Christophe Ronel, Augusto Foldi and Malgorzata Pazko. Each of them had presented a work around the Château de Swann and its park. The creations were unfinished so that the children could let their imagination and talent run free to complete it. The competition was open to children and adolescents aged 3 to 18, divided into 5 age groups (3 to 5, 6 to 8, 9 to 12, 13 to 15 and 16 to 18). A category was also reserved for autistic children.
An international tour from Paris
This first edition started in China with the participation of 60,000 children and then extended internationally, 500 of them were pre-selected by teachers and sent to Paris. Co-sponsored by the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations (WFUCA) and the Association for the Promotion of France-China Exchanges (APEFC), the exhibition toured internationally in 20 countries including China, France, the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Belgium, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Greece, Brazil, Romania, Mexico, Lebanon and Senegal. ..
The Swann Trophies
Each participant received a prize in the form of a Swann Talents certificate. The jury made up of personalities from the artistic or literary world pre-selected several works according to age groups and rated them. The 20 best received a medal and a diploma.
The selection of « best consideration » was submitted to a jury composed of personalities outside the Fine Arts (engineers, doctors, writers, journalists, scientists, lawyers…) who decided according to the theme (dreaming, enthusiasm, turbulence, melancholy , vivacity, extravagance…).
Edition 2023
After the success of the first edition, we are looking forward to the meeting on July 15 at the Carrousel du Louvre, for the new Spring 2023 edition. Registration for this adventure took place on www.lechateaudeswann.com /artisticgames.
See you for the 2024 edition.
Swann’s castle
The castle museum is housed in the former residence of the Swann family. It houses its legendary history and its fictional characters, created by the writer Marcel Proust. The real name of the castle is the « Sineterie » (writing in old French). Built in 1864, this house belonged to Mr Valléran who never lived there but was buried under the chapel in the park. Most of the trees (oaks, chestnuts, beeches) are between 200 and 300 years old. The park is also home to camellias, pines from Mexico, North America and East Asia or 2 sophoras with claws chinese dragon The castle itself is made up of rooms, objects and details, each of which has its own story.
