The American designer of Korean origin, Grace Moon, was in Paris for the 3rd time with her new fashion show, « Fly to the moon ». A nugget from Fashion Week.

On March 3, Grace Moon’s fashion show took place at the Salon des Miroirs (75009), as part of Fashion Week in the presence of many guests. Among them were Any d’Avray and her adorable little dog , Patricia Charpentier, Paul Adda, Séverine de Possel-Deydier, Fiona Gélin and her companion Richard Bauduin, Pascal Soetens, Esteban de la Vega and his wife Andy Paz, Antoine de Maximy, the « Mister France » 2021 (Bilal Malik) and 2022 (Lenny Tabourel), Ariana Kah and her daughter Boh Schrem, Cécile Descombes, Franck Ros, Jean-Christophe Cloetens, Bernard Ménez and many other celebrities.

In order to support the Ukrainian people, the designer decided to add yellow and blue feathers, colors of the Ukrainian flag as a sign of solidarity.

Behind the scenes, the excitement reigned around the designer who was about to introduce this new collection which represented everything she felt. For her, « Fly to the moonn » was the realization of a dream, that of getting out of bad situations, whether it was the pandemic or the war between Russia and Ukraine. This parade was a way to escape and bring inner peace.

A dream parade

Tenor Mickaël de Angelis opened the parade by performing 2 operatic pieces including « Granada, » written in 1932 by Mexican composer Augustin Lara.

Hervé Pouchol, journalist and mediator of the program « It can happen to you on radio and television, took over the microphone to present the collection to the sound of music mixed by M Talmi.

This collection was very different from the one discovered at the restaurant « Les Paillettes » (75008) in 2021; it started with 4 traditional Korean models (hanbok) followed by evening dresses and ready-to-wear outfits.

Grace Moon did not come alone to present « Fly to the Moon ». The entire Coiffirst team, hair and make-up, accompanied her, including Um Kyung-ok and Lee Min-yeong, as well as the Bengali model and designer, Azim Uddula.

For this third visit to Paris during Fashion Week, Grace Moon has chosen a team of models, made up of 11 girls and 6 boys. Each of them made several visits to present models from the fall-winter collection, inspired by California and France to seduce Europeans.

Grace Moon loves Paris, it’s the city of love and fashion; the French capital inspires her with its many designers such as Chanel, Yves St Laurent or Dior. The FW Paris fashion show unveiled its soul throughout its collection. She also chose to dedicate this collection to Ukraine by using the colors of its flag. That’s why she was dressed in blue to accompany the bride, with a huge yellow-colored paper flower in her hand, matching the bride’s headdress.

At the end of the show, the designer received many gifts including her portrait made at Studio Harcourt, as well as a trophy created by the sculptor Paul Nebac.

The evening ended with a festive cocktail where you could taste Spanish ham from caterer Orza, caviar from Maison Gresha accompanied by Joel Kopzo vodka. The latter had come with a trunk containing 3 unique diamond-shaped copies, stamped Grace Moon, all in shades of pink and red.

Back to the main protagonists of the parade

Grace Moon

Born in South Korea, then living in the United States, Grace Moon became an international designer to inspire young Korean girls.

At the age of 19, she left to study fashion in London. Back in California, she collaborated for thirty years with companies such as Guess, Papaya or Foreign Exchange. She is inspired by Audrey Hepburn or Princess Diana.

It was only at the age of 50 that she created her own brand, after having participated in numerous FWs including New York, Milan and London. In 2019, she won the title of « Best Creator » in Paris. She also presented her work at film festivals, in Cannes or Venice.

Member of the jury of « Face of Asia » at Bengla Desh, she fell in love with the country and its fashion. She collaborated the following year with Azim Uddula who had just launched his collection, AZ.

In October 2021, she was in Paris to present her « Love Happens » collection and this year « Fly to the moon ».

Azim Uddula

Azim Uddula, a senior model from Dhaka, created her own line in 2019. It featured jackets and blazers, as well as an ethnic clothing line.

Noticed by Grace Moon in 2019, he collaborated with her the following year and paraded regularly since then in the fashion shows of the designer.

Michael de Angelis

Discovered in Belgium by Anath Tordjman Compagnon, organizer of the Grace Moon parade, tenor Mickael de Angelis agreed to come and sing for the « Fly to the Moon » parade.

His voice is natural, it’s a gift he received at birth. That’s why he didn’t need to work on it a lot. He tried to attend a school but not being convinced, he preferred to work on his voice with a young coach. When we hear Mickael de Angelis sing, we listen to « a spoken voice, positioned as if calling someone from afar, giving off an emotion, sad or joyful; this is called the mirror of the soul ».

Mickael had the chance to meet Luciano Pavarotti who, like him, had a natural voice and had never done music theory. Regarding his future, he plans to go to Canada and the USA but also to continue to do private concerts.

M Talmi

M Talmi is a composer-music producer and DJ, based in Switzerland. He accompanies the parade of Grace Moon for the 3rd time.

This time there is something new at the beginning, a little interlude with the voice of the creator and that of her son as well as music created around it, pieces of her composition and other authors including Clara Lucianii that Grace Moon chose herself. The title also accompanies the wedding dress that closes the parade.

The choice of the playlist is partly that of Grace Moon according to the proposals of M Talmi. The result: a bit of opera, a bit of classical music and a bit of electro, an eclectic and modern choice that lends itself well to fashion.

M Talmi will accompany Grace Moon on her next fashion show in Paris in October. Among the composer’s other projects, there is the release of a new solo album in May; a single and a clip from the Franco-Brazilian artist he is chaperoning.
