André Aby alias Andy Aby left Ivory Coast as a teenager to discover equal rights in France in 1979, although he lived a sweet and happy youth, he sought to feel even freer than ‘it couldn’t be.
Caught in the spiral of music and song between soul music, French variety and Ivorian influences, Andy Aby managed to impose his music.
Residing in Paris, his career took an international turn, thanks to Thierry Sforza, an eminent author known in the world of French music by many stars such as Patrick Bruel, Patricia Kaas, Céline Dion and Johnny Halliday etc.
But who is Andy Aby and how did his career begin?
He imposes his music as an undeniable presence. Mami-Watta, whose titles « Coube » (« I will never forget you ») and « Ewi » (« I cry ») in 2 volumes, made Andy Aby « the charming singer » in Côte d ‘ Ivoire, whose musical and vocal resemblance to its idol François Lougah, left no one indifferent.
“I really liked Lougah François. He influenced me musically. If I am ahead today it is thanks to him. I will simply say that I love Lougah ”.
The album « Women of Ivory Coast and elsewhere » is that of confirmation. After numerous concerts and festivals, in Africa (Togo, Benin, etc.), Andy decides to record the album, « Couleur de peau », with European influences.
On June 20, 2019, he landed in America in New York, invited to the alumni ball, by the Ivorian community, where he is known.
Andy devotes himself to French music to integrate international music
The singer is preparing an LP, written by the author Thierry Sforza, to open the doors to the world of international music, with unique titles such as: « Citizens of the World », « EMIGRE », « This free man » or » Notre Dame ”, but also a tribute dedicated to Manu Dibango, among the 14 singles that will be part of the album.
To highlight the texts of Thierry Sforza, famous composers such as: Romano Musumarra – « EMIGRE », who collaborated with the tenor Luciano Pavarotti, Mario Pelchat – « This free man », Rick Allison the former composer of Lara Fabian and Frantz Fagot. The arrangement is made by Benjamin Falcon, giving value to the singer in his debut on the international scene, after 40 years in France, being known to the Ivorian community in his country and abroad.
The proposed music deserves to be discovered through the new singles, in particular the song « Notre Dame » written after the tragic event, which could be a great success.
