The Wigan Warriors continued their unbeaten start to the 2026 Betfred Super League season with a convincing 36-16 victory over Toulouse Olympique on March 7 at the Stade Ernest-Wallon in southern France.
Fast start from Wigan
The visitors quickly took control of the match. Winger Zach Eckersley opened the scoring after diving over in the corner following a well-constructed attacking move. Soon after, Adam Keighran crossed the line and converted his own try, giving Wigan an early 10-0 advantage.
Wigan’s attacking pressure continued throughout the first half. Eckersley and Keighran both added further tries as the English side dominated possession and territory, establishing a commanding lead.
Toulouse eventually responded shortly before halftime when fullback Olly Ashall-Bott scored, with Jake Shorrocks converting to reduce the deficit to 18-6 at the break.
Toulouse fight back
After the interval, the French side showed greater attacking intent. Ashall-Bott added his second try of the night while Benjamin Laguerre also crossed the line, keeping Toulouse within reach of their opponents.
However, Wigan’s depth and attacking quality proved decisive. Further tries from Bevan French, Brad O’Neill and Sam Walters secured the victory for the Warriors.
Wigan maintain perfect start
The win keeps Wigan at the top of the Super League standings with four wins from four matches this season.
Although Toulouse suffered defeat at home, the French club showed resilience and moments of quality against one of the strongest teams in the competition, highlighting their growing competitiveness in European rugby league.
