As the 4th wave withdraws to French territory, the Perpignan International Photojournalism Festival takes the opportunity to hold its 33rd edition.
Visa is one of the most important photojournalism events in the world.

And, from August 30 to September 4, at the open-air theater of Campo Santo, return the mythical evenings of projection which present the news of the last twelve months, upset by the pandemic but also by the crises and the conflicts in Burma, in the Nagorno-Karabakh, Colombia, Ethiopia with refugees from Tigray, Syrian refugees still on the island of Lesbos, migrants from Mexico …
Visa pays tribute to missing celebrities
Visa pays tribute to celebrities who passed away during this period. Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, the President who leaves a « mixed record » in the words of Jean-François Leroy, founding director of Visa, Juliette Greco, the singer of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Sean Connery, the Agent 007, Maradona, the football star, the great couturiers Pierre Cardin and Kenzo, Charlie Watts, the drummer of the Stones.
A special tribute is paid to the Rolling Stones, the rock group which, in 1969, gathered at a concert in Hyde Park nearly 500,000 people.
Other very interesting subjects such as the photographic archives of the Léon & Lévy studio, specializing in the publication of postcards at the beginning of the century, which make us discover the French coast in 1910, or the France of François Mitterrand documented by Yann Morvan , breast cancer screening, Mexican « mariachis » or the sumo child …
Faced with the rapidity of the circulation of information, often unverified, through social realities and continuous news channels, the photo reports shown in Perpignan allow reflection and a better understanding of the world in which we live.
