Large the soprano Spanish Montserrat Caballé has just died out on Saturday, October 6 in Barcelona at the 85 years age.
Born in April 1933 in Barcelona in a modest family, María de Montserrat Viviana Concepción Caballé I Folch, studied with the academy of Liceu before beginning with the Opera from Basle in 1956, in “the Bohemian one” of Giacomo Puccini. She interpreted with brilliance of great authors such Mozart, Bellini, Puccini, Dvorak and practised the art of “pianissimo” which made it legendary.
After having spent 2 years in Bremen to Germany, it settles definitively in 1962 with the opera of Barcelona, Gran Teatre del Liceu. During the years which follow, it is made known in the United States thanks to masterly interpretations of which Lucrèce Borgia and Traviatta. In 1972, it gains a triumph in Scala of Milan. The same year, is born his/her daughter who carries the same first name that it and will become also soprano, whose father is the tenor Bernabé Marti that it had married in 1964.
In 1987, it records an album with the singer of the group Queen, Freddy Mercury in a register which was not usual for him. One of the titles had been selected besides like anthem of the Olympic Games of Barcelona in 1992 but unfortunately, of the health problems start to emerge at that time. Its family indicated that one taken care funerary would be held this Sunday, October 7 and its funeral will take place Monday, October 8 in the district Corts of Barcelona.
