The Village of the Gay Games 2018 accommodated its first concerts and animation Sunday evening

For its 10th edition, the Gay Games are accommodated in Paris from August 4th to August 12th with conferences which were taken place with the Town hall during 3 days before the official unveiling on August 4th at the Stage Jean Bouin in Paris (75016).

As with each edition, an Olympic village is organized, in Paris, it is held on the square of the Town hall during the week during which place the competitions will take and will be opened with all, (Parisian, visitors, partners, voluntary and participating) the every day of 10:00 to 18:00. From this hour, it will offer to the public until 23:00, every evening, various shows, concerts and animations.

On more 12.000m ², many events are proposed to the public children and to adults who will be able to thus discover sports and cultural. Meetings of initiation or working but also of the medical boards and of prevention will be proposed there. Demonstrations of sports for people in situation of handicap.

From 6 p.m. and until closing (23h), 2 shows and a theme party will follow one another the every day. The topics will be different each days and accessible to all public.

On August 4th, Maire de Paris inaugurated the village square of the Town hall accompanied by the Minister for the sports, Laura Flessel, of the Minister for Health, Agnès Buzin as well as his assistants and copresidents of the Gay Games, Pascale Reinteau and Manuel Picaud.

The French capital accommodates for the first time these games, the first edition took place with San Francisco in 1982 then 4 other times in the United States and in Canada, Netherlands, Australia and Germany.  Paris has prepared the arrival of the Gay Games for 5 years and the mayor is proud to receive a sports event and cultural which counts among largest in the world. With this occasion, more than 10,000 participants come from the 5 continents fell under the 36 disciplines and more than 50,000 visitors are expected, Paris was elected besides the gay city friendly in the world by Misterb&b last July.

After the visit of the stands and the speeches, “Rainbow Run” started with the reading of the people missing because of AIDS, the race of homage bringing together 1,400 people left the Town hall to go place of the Harmony. This international memory race takes place every 4 years at the time of the Gay Games and Paris also accommodates it for the first time since its creation in 1990; she pays homage to all the missings of the AIDS of which the artist Keith Haring, the militant lesbian Rikki Streicher and Dr. Tom Waddell, founder of the Gay Games, May also victims of the discrimination and breast cancer.

Before the race, according to the tradition installation at the time of the 1st edition, a patchwork of the names is deployed and the participants in the race can affix there the name of a missing person which they wish to remember.

After the evening of grand opening of August 4th at the stage Jean Bouin, the tests started Sunday morning. Among them were, the oar and the triathlon. The 5 at the evening, 3 shows took place at the village starting with a musical production, follow–up of the show organized by association ENIPSE (National team of Intervention in Prevention and Health) presented the show “the Games of the Love, play diversified” animated by a team of artists committed and carried out by Karamel Lady, to diffuse messages of prevention in the tradition of the show One will find the team several times at the village during the event but also in the Marsh, not far from there. Paris Madnesses” was dedicated to the Madnesses Shepherdesses enclosed the evening.

Monday evening, the fashion is put in the star with a show and a procession at 7 p.m. then the show “It is Magic Tuesday evening”, a show around the world will introduce the drums of Japan followed by a duet of fado queer and the show “Stopovers to Paris”…

The village of the Gay Games will close down after the evening of fence for the participants which will be held on August 11th around 17:00.
