It was announced. Museums can receive the public again under certain conditions and that’s great! Thus, the exhibition « Couturiers de la danse » will be able to play extensions until 1 November since the National Costume Center reopens its doors.
The guardian of the artistic heritage has done everything to respect the health protocol imposed so that, from May 21, visitors can come to discover, in addition to his 20,000 stage costumes, his accessories and his decorations dating from the nineteenth century to our days, the creations that the great designers have made for the biggest dance companies. Materials and forms revolve there with grace and coordination in an immersive scenography choreographed by the architect and artist Marco Mercacci. « The phrasing » of this collection of amplitude which totals no less than 130 costumes loaned on an exceptional basis and some models of which have never been seen in France, reveals, in particular, the fruitful collaborations with big names in haute couture ( Coco Chanel with the Russian ballets, by Gianni Versace for Maurice Béjart, by Christian Lacroix then by Olivier Rousteing for Balmain with the ballet of the Opera, by Jean-Paul Gaultier with Régine Chopinot…) and showcases all their knowledge- do and their creativity. Result: tutus, bustiers, ball gown corsets, animal masks, tu, leather, wool, lace, embroidery and pleats …
Question folds, small slide, and hop, visitors will be able to make a sequence with the exhibition dedicated to the dancer and choreographer Rudolf Nureyev. Over a hundred pieces revealing his artistic and personal life (furniture, musical instruments, textiles, paintings, engravings, sculptures, stage and everyday costumes, photos, films…) are staged by Ezio Frigenio helped in its « variation » by Giuliano Dpinelli.
Dance in all its forms, a crossing of a century of complicity in movement between these two arts, initiated by the commissioner Philippe Noisette through four themes. A tribute ballet that is well worth an arabesque, right?
