In a one-sided match, Colomiers thoroughly thrashed Oyonnax (62-12) this Friday evening, during the 24th round of the Pro D2. By scoring ten tries and dominating all areas of the game, the Colomiers side made a major impact in the race for qualification.
In a great atmosphere at the Michel-Bendichou stadium, Colomiers started strongly against an Oyonnax team that quickly came under pressure. In the 9th minute, Sweetnam received a yellow card for a deliberate knock-on. The home side immediately took advantage: Pacome accelerated and fed Pinto, who dashed to score the first try (5-0).
Alonso-Muñoz, who was very prominent, scored twice in quick succession (14′, 23′), while Bazin and then Herron added another goal. At halftime, the score was clear: 38 to 5.
Alonso-Muñoz, at the end of a fine offensive sequence, doubled the lead (12 to 0). Then, Herron sent Bazin into the in-goal area with a magnificent kick (19 to 0). Oyonnax tried to react but lost a precious ball, immediately capitalized on by Colomiers: Alonso-Muñoz scored twice after a lightning counterattack (26 to 0).
On a well-structured ball, Geledan reduced the deficit for Oyonnax (26 to 5). But the home side’s dominance resumed. Herron scored a fifth try (31-5) before Deghmache showed off his technique with a superb chistera pass to Pinto, who returned the ball for the sixth try (38-5).
Facing an overwhelmed and undisciplined Oyomen side, the home side continued their offensive display. Despite a penalty try awarded to Oyonnax (51′), Colomiers kept up the pressure. Pinto scored twice (65′), followed by a try from Dulon (73′) to cap off the display.
Colomiers resumed the match with the same intensity. Nu’u pierced the defense and scored his team’s seventh try (43-5). Despite a penalty try awarded to Oyonnax after a dominant scrum (43-12), the visitors were unable to turn the tide.
Dulon crossed the line for an eighth try after a dazzling run (48-12). Pinto hammered the nail in the coffin by taking advantage of a gap poorly covered by the opposing defense to score a brace (55-12). Pacome, despite a few missed kicks, regularly converted his team’s tries.
Despite a yellow card for Dimcheff, the home side remained dominant. Dulon sealed the match by scoring Colomiers’ tenth and final try (62-12).
With this bonus-point victory, Colomiers climbed to 5th place and confirmed its status as a serious contender for the Top 6.
A resounding victory for the Colomiers team, who outclassed their opponents from start to finish.
