In the program ‘Besoin des artistes’ on ArtsMada radio, Patrick Adler, was invited by the hosts Eric Durand and Frédéric Julien Bonheur, to present his book “Un père et passe” on the day he celebrated his birthday.
The words are summed up in his childhood; a daily ordeal inflicted by his father. Little February (his real name) was an abused child, a battered child. At the age of three, he realizes that he will have nothing more to expect from this inflexible soldier, than drenched and undressed. To face his torturer and make up for his lack of affection. It is from his classmates that he will seek support and recognition. The dead man he is, needs to exist, to be popular!
Such behavior, however, is no accident! For ten years, his mother, his classmates, as well as the faculty, will be in denial. The truth is finally coming out. Thanks to the last violent beating he inflicts on him, Patrick is forever free from the grip and abuse of his alcoholic, his whipping father. Victory leads to family chaos. Patrick is about 12 years old. Placed at the DASS, the time has come for him to enjoy his teenage life, to build himself in serenity. His childhood injuries? The resilient will know how to transcend them. He will do it many years later with laughter and… on stage.
The author that he is here demonstrates this throughout his 203 pages. With his sharp pen, the games of “evils” and not without a few touches of humor that we know him well, he tells with humility and modesty his difficult childhood, against the backdrop of abuse.
