Japanese Lights Illuminate Paris at the Jardin d’Acclimatation This Winter

From December 10, 2025 to March 8, 2026, the Jardin d’Acclimatation hosts Japanese Lights, an immersive nighttime journey celebrating Japan’s traditions, pop culture and landscapes.

From December 10, 2025 to March 8, 2026, Paris will host an immersive cultural experience celebrating Japan’s heritage, creativity, and natural beauty. Japanese Lights, a bespoke nighttime journey created for the Jardin d’Acclimatation, invites international visitors to explore a multi-sensory itinerary inspired by centuries of Japanese tradition and contemporary artistic expression.

Designed as a three-part experience, the temporary installation transforms the historic Parisian park into a luminous pathway through time, offering a unique opportunity to discover the diverse cultural landscapes of Japan without leaving Europe.

A Three-Step Journey Through Japan

The Empire of Traditions

The journey begins with an exploration of ancestral Japan. Visitors pass beneath monumental torii gates into an environment inspired by Shinto and Buddhist temples.

Lantern-lit pathways, samurai silhouettes, and traditional textiles evoke the spiritual and cultural foundations of Japanese civilization. This first sequence culminates in a luminous evocation of Sensō-ji Temple, one of Japan’s most iconic religious landmarks.

The Pop-Modern Odyssey

The second stage transports visitors into contemporary Japan. Inspired by Tokyo’s vibrant urban districts, this immersive environment celebrates the country’s creative energy through neon-lit facades and interactive installations.

Elements drawn from manga aesthetics and kawaii culture reflect Japan’s global influence on visual arts and entertainment.

The Garden of Dreams

The final stage pays tribute to Japan’s natural landscapes. Visitors stroll through ephemeral cherry blossoms, koi-filled ponds, and carefully arranged bonsai compositions.

In the distance, the majestic silhouette of Mount Fuji rises through a luminous mist, offering a serene conclusion to the experience.

A Family-Friendly Cultural Experience

The exhibition is designed for a broad international audience. Children can marvel at colorful lanterns, while adults will appreciate the craftsmanship behind the installations.

Interactive features include life-sized arcade game environments, immersive photo sets, and live screenings of sumo matches.

A Culinary Journey to the Land of the Rising Sun

At the end of the trail, visitors can enjoy a curated food court featuring Japanese specialties such as ramen, gyoza, and mochi alongside European winter favorites including hot chocolate and mulled wine.

A Historic Park with a Global Outlook

Established in 1860, the Jardin d’Acclimatation remains the only amusement park located within Paris city limits. Fully renovated in 2018, it now features 42 attractions and welcomes more than 1.6 million visitors annually.

As part of its international programming, the park regularly hosts events celebrating global cultures. Following festivals dedicated to India, China, Korea, and Mexico in 2025, Japanese Lights concludes its annual cultural tour with a tribute to Japan.

In 2024, a monumental installation by Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami was presented opposite the Fondation Louis Vuitton, further strengthening the park’s cultural ties with Japan.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Beginning April 12, 2026, the Jardin d’Acclimatation will introduce a new attraction: the Dragon Challenge roller coaster, designed to deliver an immersive experience for thrill-seekers from around the world.
