Former French magistrate and politician Georges Fenech married in Paris, in a ceremony attended by prominent media and diplomatic figures.

Georges Fenech has once again found love and recently got married, marking a new chapter in his life. The wedding ceremony took place at the City Hall of Paris’s 16th arrondissement.

Nearly five years after the accidental death of Hermine de Clermont-Tonnerre, the former magistrate has rebuilt his personal life. He addresses the rapid pace of this new romance with calm and determination, fully embracing the speed at which his emotional life has accelerated. While their relationship may appear sudden, it did not begin from nothing. Amélie revealed that she had already crossed paths with Georges Fenech seven years ago. At the time, their meeting led nowhere, but today it has taken on a very special meaning.

The relationship between Georges Fenech and Amélie is the result of a genuine love at first sight. “It may seem a bit crazy,” he said, “after meeting and getting married just eight days later. Everything happened very quickly, like a whirlwind, and it feels as if we are living in a dream.” The couple arrived hand in hand at the Golden Star Gala organized by the CitéStars association on December 7, under the patronage of the association’s president, David Donadei. They decided to marry just a month and a half after their first meeting.

During the ceremony, Francis Szpiner delivered an introduction recounting Georges Fenech’s life journey, highlighting his personal path and his importance as a citizen, magistrate, politician, and media commentator.

This moment reflected the story of an ordinary man who has always remained deeply attached to legislative and human values. Born in Tunisia, Georges Fenech is a French magistrate and politician. He studied at Lycée Ponsard in Vienne and Lycée Parc Chabrières in Oullins. He obtained a law degree from the Faculty of Law in Lyon (Jean Moulin University) and was admitted to the National School for the Judiciary (ENM) in January 1978. After serving as a magistrate in the Rhône-Alpes region and later in Bobigny, he chaired the Professional Association of Magistrates (APM) from 1996 to 1998 and headed the Interministerial Mission for Vigilance and the Fight against Sectarian Deviances (Miviludes) from 2008 to 2012.

Francis Szpiner then read the articles of the French Civil Code relating to marriage and officially celebrated the union of Amélie Leperre-Dimeglio and Georges Fenech.

Many personalities from Europe 1 attended the ceremony, including Pascal Praud, Catherine Bancarel, Gilles-William Goldnadel, Gauthier Le Bret, his wife Éloïse and their five-month-old baby, Europe 1’s CEO Donat Vidal-Revel, David Donadei, and the Ambassador of Malta to France, Pierre Clive Agius.

Journalist Olivier Guenec reported live from the ceremony during Eliot Duval’s program on Europe 1. “It’s magnificent, everyone is here,” said the special correspondent of the day, seated next to Gilles-William Goldnadel. Gauthier Le Bret also attended with his family, while Pascal Praud was photographed alongside his partner Catherine Bancarel. Donat Vidal-Revel also came to congratulate the newlyweds.

At the end of the ceremony, Olivier Guenec interviewed the couple live on air. “My dear Eliot, I missed today’s show, but I have a very good excuse,” Georges Fenech joked. Asked how he felt, he replied with great emotion: “I am a happy man, surrounded by love. Very happy, very much in love, and surrounded by family and my professional family. They are all here. I am deeply moved by their presence and support.”

The bride, Amélie Leperre-Dimeglio, also shared her feelings, saying she had not felt stressed. “Everything was going very well, the pressure only rose about an hour before the ceremony, when I became very emotional.” As for the rest of their day, the newlyweds had a clear plan. “I think it’s time for champagne,” she said with a smile.

At 71 years old, Georges Fenech says he has “a strong desire to live” and has no regrets about this decision. He now intends to enjoy every moment of his new love story.
