Gay Games 10 closure

Gay Games 10 finished Saturday, August 11 by the speeches of the assistant of the mayor of Paris in charge of the international relations, Patrick Klugman as well as copresidents of the Gay Games 2018, Pascal Reinteau and Manuel Picaud but also of the copresidents of the Federation of the Gay Games, Joanie Evans and Sean Fitzgerald which thanked Paris for its reception.  A great show of fence realized by the members of many sports clubs LGBT (160 voluntary–artists) followed.

The journalist and stimulating Alex Taylor were the master of ceremony in front of more than 8,000 spectators, all participants, come with their medals to attend the ceremony. After the official discourses, the flag of the Gay Games was taken down and passed to the hands of the representatives of Hong Kong who will accommodate the 11th edition of the Gay Games in 4 years and will mark the 40 years of the institution. It will be the first town of Asia to receive in 2022 the first games of diversity on the continent of Asia. Paris

After the announcement of the humorist originating in Hong Kong Sony Chan, one could attend the famous dance of the lions then on the screens with the extinction of the flame for the 4 next years.
The show could then started, various participating associations (Let Dance to us, Paris Watery, Aqua Homo or Paname Boxing Club…) follow one another on various tables (Paris city of the love and diversity, French cuisine, Cancan, Anthem with the love, the Revolution, freedom leading the people of Delacroix, pastoral landscapes…) to the sound of original soundtracks like La La Land or of tubes of Britney Spears or Senile Lady… After the show, the participants could continue to dance and celebrate their medals to the sound of the music of the DJ and for those which wished it to go to the evening of fence to the “Docks”.

During this week of Gay Games, more than 54,000 people visited the Village on the square of the Town hall where they could take part in animations, to meet athletes, artists and voluntary but also to attend 3 different shows each evening.

With regard to the participants, one counts more than 13,000 people including 10,000 athletes and more than 3,000 voluntary of all nationalities, any age and any kind, showing that for these games of diversity, one was all equal and that the equality in the sport and the non–discrimination of it were the principal goals. The prize lists were produced by tests and not by country.
In addition, 200 media of 30 different countries throughout the world covered this edition 2018.
All the definite figures will be known in September. It will be the occasion to present the 18 the 3 days proposals resulting of conference on the topic “Sport and Diversity”.
