Despite a strong third period, Team France lost 6-4 to Hungary in their final game of the 2025 4 Nations Ice Hockey Tournament in Épinal.
Missing key players Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, Sacha Treille, and Yohann Auvitu, the French team struggled early before fighting back with determination.
France started well with a chance from Dylan Fabre, but Hungary quickly took control, scoring three times through Mattyasovzsky, Hari, and Shlekmann.
Coach Yorick Treille called a timeout to wake up his players, and it worked: Guillaume Leclerc scored a powerful goal to make it 3-1 before the first intermission.
In the second period, Hungary extended the lead to 5-1, forcing Julian Junca to replace Tom Aubrun in goal.
France showed more control in the third period.
Jordann Perret and Nicolas Ritz found the net to close the gap, but Hungary replied with another power-play goal.
Dylan Fabre scored France’s fourth late in the game (4-6), but it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback.
Despite the loss, France wins the 2025 4 Nations Tournament, finishing first overall after victories against Denmark (3-1) and Norway (2-0).
A strong showing for the French squad as they continue their preparation for the Olympic season.
