This diagnosis was made following an RTPCR test performed at the onset of the first symptoms.
The Elysée announced this Thursday that the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron has been diagnosed positive for Covid-19. He will isolate himself for 7 days and continue to work remotely, indicates the presidency.
While EU member countries will begin vaccination “on the same day” as the announcement made by the Elysee on the diagnosis of Emmanuel Macron. Jean Castex spoke of the “last week of December” for these first vaccines.
Emmanuel Macron tested positive on December 17 for Covid-19 and will isolate himself for seven days, announces the Elysee.
After the diagnosis established by “RT-PCR tests carried out as soon as the first symptoms appear”, the Head of State “will isolate himself for seven days” but “will continue to work and ensure his activities remotely”, adds the presidency in a press release.
Emmanuel Macron and Jean Castex also saw each other face to face for a coffee on Tuesday evening. It is for this reason that the head of government was considered a contact case. A PCR test was performed Thursday morning and came back negative. The Prime Minister must, however, remain in isolation for seven days after the last contact with Emmanuel Macron, in accordance with the health protocol.
