Decrease in mobilization despite renewed mobilization in anti-pass processions

For this 8th day of mobilization against the health pass, participation weakened despite the end of the holidays, vaccination on the rise and the start of the school year.

With 141,655 people, there were 20,000 more people last week and 215 processions across the country. In the capital, there were 18,425 demonstrators divided into 5 routes. Following the overflows, there were 21 arrests throughout France, including 3 in Paris.

While the number of demonstrators is weakening, the number of people vaccinated has increased, including among children over 12 years old. Since the start of the vaccination campaign, there have been 89,780 injections. In New Caledonia, a very little affected department, vaccination has become compulsory.

Parisian events

Paris totaled 5 declared events including 4 like the Yellow Vests, and one savage. The most important was that of “Resistance Gilets Jaunes de France”. The other big meeting revolved around Florian Philippot. Like last week, a procession started from the Bourse, another from Porte de Montreuil, and finally the one planned from Châtelet has changed its starting point to Poissonnière.

Demonstration of the “Patriots”

Several thousand people demonstrated around Florian Philippot, leader of the “Patriots”. The procession left half an hour late from the Champ de Mars, Place Jacques Rueff (75007) towards the Esplanade des Invalides (75007). The president of the “Patriots” had called on all his supporters to come and join him in Paris. Successful bet since he felt that it was a “record”. The crowd waved tricolor flags while singing the Marseillaise. The demonstrators chanted “Freedom!”, “We are here!” “Macron; we don’t want your pass”. On arrival, a platform awaited the speakers. The leader of the “Patriots” spoke: “We are boycotting this health pass …. we will put a third dose of boycott. At the end of this health pass will fall”. He even promises to go “until the general strike if necessary” and ends with a call to demonstrate next Saturday for a 9th Saturday.

The sovereignist Nicolas Dupont-Aignan and the lawyer Fabrice di Vizio, become hero of the antivaccines were present in the procession. They also said a few words before the dispersal.

Resistance Gilets Jaunes de France

The compact procession, surrounded by security forces, set out from Montparnasse towards the Bastille, with nearly 2,000 demonstrators. He took the bd du Montparnasse to join the Austerlitz bridge and reach the Place de la Bastille. Some demonstrators knocked down construction barriers.

Arrived at the Bastille, a wild demonstration of a few hundred people left for the Forum des Halles. Hundreds of anti-health pass protesters invaded the Forum des Halles, forcing the entrances to the shopping center. Following these excesses, the police intervened to repel them.

Procession Yellow Vests Bourse-Palais Royal

As in previous weeks, the procession met at Place de la Bourse to reach the Palais Royal. The meeting was initiated by Sébastien Philippart, close to the yellow vests and considered to be part of the conspiracy movement. The signs read “Health terror, I will not submit!”, “Macron resignation!”, “No to the health pass!” ….

Paris collective demonstration for freedom

This event initiated by Sophie Tissier, a former Yellow Vest, was first of all banned. After appeal against the decision of Prefect Lallement, it finally took place but with a different route and another place of departure. Events in the provinces

7,000 people in Montpellier, 3,700 and 7 arrests in Lyon, 2,900 in Nice and Bordeaux and 2,700 in Lille. In Nantes, 2,400 people mobilized against 3,950 last week, 2,200 in Strasbourg and Aix-en-Provence, 1,500 in Rennes and 700 in Saint-Nazaire.

Marseille: The procession of 2,500 anti-pass met in the Old Port and then headed towards Saint-Charles station. The demonstrators forced the passage, pushing police officers, to invade the hall of departures and arrivals.

Nantes: At the cry of “Freedom” and “We are there”, the demonstrators against the health pass have invested the famous passage Pommeraye. There were 2 processions, the first towards the cathedral and a second towards the CHU.

Toulouse: 2,500 people clashes with the police, tear gas.

A 9th day of demonstration is scheduled for September 11. What will happen in terms of mobilization?
