The Haut-Garonnais received Grenoble, on behalf of the second day of Pro D2. A week after having suffered a severe defeat in Biarritz (35-18), in the season opener.
For their first outing of the season in front of the public at their Michel-Bendichou stadium, the Columérins had an opportunity to strike a nice blow against the Isérois. The latter, in fact, constitute one of the big stables of this Pro D2.
Carried by his defence, Colomiers won against Grenoble on this second day of the championship. The Columérins knew how to take the points that had to be taken and contained the Grenoble assaults despite the fact that the Isérois managed, through the intermediary of Lainault, to break their defensive curtain. More solid, the hosts, who finished at 14, prevent their opponent from leaving with the defensive bonus points.
Last season, they had reached the final, beaten by an overpowered Oyonnax (14-3), and had thus failed during the last march for accession to the Top 14.
This season, the Grenoble residents will still be aiming for promotion to the upper floor, and seem equipped for it. On the first day, they beat Mont-de-Marsan 30-25.
But the much too undisciplined and too clumsy Grenoble residents could not hope for better than this defeat.
Still last and in the negative (-2) because of their six penalty points, Hueber’s men will have to show another face next Friday in Dax.
The victory of the locals (USC) 27 to 19 against FCG who missed the defensive bonus in the last moments with a forward from Goginava in the in-goal.
