A charity evening took place on November 20 at the Alhambra in Paris. All of the money collected during this evening was redistributed to the « Neuf de coeur » association founded by the footballer Jean-Pierre Papin and his wife and to the « Adrien » association, created by René Molines following the death of his son Adrien.
The 9 of hearts association
The “9 de coeur” association was born in December 1996 under the leadership of Florence and Jean-Pierre Papin, following the terrible diagnosis concerning their daughter Emily, suffering from serious brain damage at the age of only a few weeks. After finding out about treatment, they met the families of other children, including that of Anne Le Dean. Together, they discover a rehabilitation technique used in the USA and cross the Atlantic to test this new method which gives considerable results on the two little girls.
The association helps children with brain injuries, also called cerebral palsy, who have suffered partial and early destruction of their brain cells. The lesions could have occurred during pregnancy (chromosomal anomaly, infectious agent or brain damage, etc.) or around birth (lack of oxygen during childbirth, premature birth with respiratory complications or convulsions, etc.). Motor disabilities are sometimes linked to problems with swallowing, vision, hearing but also intellectual deficiencies. We are also dealing with children who are lame but also quadriplegic, dependent for all the activities of everyday life.
Depending on the lesions, learning methods of rehabilitation and stimulation which allow children to regain their autonomy on a day-to-day basis. Some are integrated into the traditional school environment, others in a protected environment.
“9 of Hearts” seeks new means of communication in order to improve the daily lives of children and families. She is present to listen and support but also to inform and disseminate the techniques and treatments available.
“Adrien” Association
Adrien is the name of the association created by René Molines, Adrien’s father, in May 2005. in memory of his son to help other children faced with the incurable orphan disease linked to high blood pressure with insufficient respiratory. The association helps families whose children suffer from serious and serious illnesses. These families have to face many difficulties (distance between parents and children during hospitalization, long social breaks, interruption of the parents’ work, even loss of job to accompany and stay at the child’s bedside, financial difficulties, isolation social).
In the PACA region, the association helps families whose children are aged 0 to 20. On a daily basis, it brings hope in the face of illness, through concrete actions. Every Wednesday, a team dressed as superheroes and princesses marvels at the hospital conditions of children.
The objective of the Adrien association is to create and sustain a link with families affected by incurable illnesses to bring well-being to children and families; to break away from the isolation and harshness of everyday life; to provide listening and advice on administrative procedures. Throughout the year, 55 volunteers from the association carried out concrete actions (organization of outings and trips with full support for families to improve their morale and allow them to reunite with family; animation of visits by volunteers with sick children in the PACA region; organization of Christmas trees each year with gifts given to sick children; organization of garage sales, bingo, theme evenings (jazz concerts, etc.). In 15 years, the association organized 11 trips to Eurodisney, Asterix and Garlaland (Italy).
