Cannes Film Festival 2025: Tom Cruise Draws All Eyes at the Festival

The day after the opening ceremony, the Cannes Film Festival creates a buzz this Wednesday, May 14th, by inviting Tom Cruise to the eighth installment of Mission: Impossible, screening out of competition.

A day that will become unforgettable in terms of cinema, in terms of the out-of-competition participation of the film directed by Christopher McQuarrie, and the success of Tom Cruise as both the protagonist and stuntman.

With the international premiere of its eighth and possibly final installment, « The Final Reckoning, » at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, the « Mission: Impossible » saga completes a long relationship with moviegoers, which began with its very first episode in 1996.

The stakes of the previous installment, Dead Reckoning, will be recalled for the back of the class, who prefer mobile gaming to life-size live action. Its goal: to eradicate humanity by taking control of its weapons of mass destruction.

The 62-year-old American actor presented Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning at the Cannes Film Festival this Wednesday, May 14th.

Tom Cruise arrived on the red carpet wearing a black suit, bow tie, and Top Gun-style sunglasses. Part of the cast, including Pom Klementieff, Angela Bassett, and Simon Pegg, and director Christopher McQuarrie were also present in Cannes.

This new film was presented out of competition at Cannes. The screening of the highly anticipated Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning lasted nearly three hours. Tom Cruise’s new adventures as Ethan Hunt will be available to discover starting May 21st in French theaters and May 23rd in the United States.

The legendary theme song rang out again, performed by a big band led by Jean-Claude di Costanzo, a jazz musician, saxophonist, and music school teacher.

And, to make the party even more exciting, Mosimann, the famous Swiss DJ and music producer, took to the decks to play his remix of the film’s theme, in a dance/house version.

On the red carpet, arriving in an official car, Tom Cruise spent a long time with fans gathered behind the barriers, signing autographs and taking selfies.

The red carpet was a celebration. Even though cell phone use was prohibited, the Mission: Impossible crew ignored this and took selfies, but also attracted the attention of photographers along the red carpet.
