Cannes Film Festival 2025: « The Sun King » Steps Up the Red Carpet

This Saturday, May 17th, three films in competition were presented at the Palais des Festivals, including Richard Linklater’s Nouvelle Vague, Lynne Ramsey’s Die My Love, and finally, Vincent Maël Cardona’s The Sun King. Camélia Jordana walked the red carpet for the latter feature film. For the occasion, the 32-year-old singer opted for an elegant and daring look.

After a high-profile red carpet this Friday, which included Natalie Portman, Kristen Stewart, and even Angelina Jolie, this Saturday, May 17th, offered its share of prestigious celebrities.

A Parisian tobacconist plays himself in Vincent Maël Cardona’s « The Sun King. » He walked the red carpet in front of the paparazzi this Saturday evening, playing himself as a tobacconist. The plot revolves around police officers, customers of his store, and a winning lottery ticket.
In the film, he bears the name his customers gave him: Nico.

Xianzeng Pan owns the tobacco bar, which is located between the Oberkampf and Voltaire metro stations.

Director Vincent Maël Cardona returns to Cannes with « The Sun King, » a closed-door film set in a Versailles bar.

The Sun King, the second feature film by director Vincent Maël Cardona (revealed by Les Magnétiques, which won a César and a Lumière Award), joined the official selection in the « midnight screenings » section. No Louis XIV or his story, but a PMU bar in Versailles, the scene of a tense closed-door film following the death of a multi-million euro lottery winner.

The night was short: his new film, « The Sun King, » was screened at the midnight screening, and the party lasted late.

The cast brings together Pio Marmaï, Lucie Zhang, Sofiane Zermani, Maria de Medeiros. Release scheduled for August 27.
