The last film in competition with The Mastermind by Kelly Reichardt, one of the seven directors competing for the Palme d’Or this year.

The cast includes Amy Roth, Neil Kopp, John Magaro, Josh O’Connor, Kelly Reichardt, Alana Haim, Anish Savjani, and Christopher Blauvelt, on the red carpet of the 78th Cannes Film Festival.

Josh O’Connor appears in two films presented in the official competition. In Olivier Hermanus’s The History of Sound, he plays David, a student at the Boston Conservatory who begins a relationship with Lionel (Paul Mescal), a young singer from Kentucky.

In The Mastermind, directed by Kelly Reichardt, Josh O’Connor plays an artist planning an art theft during the Vietnam War, starring opposite Alana Haim.

It is above all his consistently intense performances that have allowed him to garner successes all the way to the Cannes Film Festival. Absent from the Croisette on Wednesday, May 21st for the screening of The History of Sound due to filming, Josh O’Connor is expected to be present this Friday, May 23rd on the red carpet for The Mastermind, a film by Kelly Reichardt in the official competition.
