Blagnac: « A Night for 2,500 Voices » – to Support Sick Children

300 researchers gathered to raise funds.

The Constance la Petite Guerrière Astronaute Association (CLPGAA) organized an event at the Saint-Pierre Church in Blagnac, aimed at children affected by cancer, to raise funds for research and support families in need.

On Friday, March 21, the city of Blagnac vibrated to the rhythm of solidarity during a charity concert benefiting children with cancer and pediatric cancer research.

The Constance la Petite Guerrière Astronaute association received community support in raising funds for 300 pediatric cancer researchers, even though the situation is quite fragile due to the lack of government support to advance research in the field of childhood oncology for pediatric cancers and leukemia.

Hervé Guinet is the president of the association Constance la petite guerrière astronaute, created in September 2017 following the death of his daughter from a very aggressive leukemia.

He is a territorial technician and lives in the suburbs of Toulouse. His daughter Constance was passionate about the world of astronauts. In 2011, she was diagnosed with leukemia. She underwent two years of chemotherapy, lumbar punctures, bone marrow harvesting, and a stay in intensive care.

She was in remission until January 2015, when she relapsed. Another seven months of intensive chemotherapy, with not so good results, led to a bone marrow transplant in July 2015. Despite a difficult year behind her, she returned to remission until the end of August 2016, when she relapsed again, her third bout of leukemia, a five-year battle in a ten-year life.

After seven years of fighting in various hematology departments across several regions, we noticed a shortage (blood, bone marrow, and platelet donations) of funds for pediatric cancer and leukemia research. This is how we created the association Constance la petite guerrière astronaute (Constance the Little Astronaut Warrior) to raise awareness about blood, bone marrow, and platelet donations; to help hospitalized children and their families; and to collect donations for pediatric cancer and leukemia research.

The evening began at 7 p.m. with a complimentary mulled wine reception offered by the « Vins et Gastronomie Blagnac » association on the church square.
Then, Cyril Broccardo and Fabienne Magetto, Inserm researchers from the CRCT, spoke to explain the importance of financial support for pediatric oncology research teams.

This event, entitled « A Night for 2,500 Voices, » brought together talented local artists at Saint-Pierre Church for an evening dedicated to hope and generosity. The program featured a rich and varied performance, with the Canards Sauvages choir as the opening act, as well as the Crescendo vocal ensemble.

The funds raised will be used to finance essential projects, such as laboratory equipment, computer training activities, and logistical and scientific support programs for research teams. All proceeds will be donated to the French research network Reakt4kids.

A new event is scheduled for Saturday, April 12th at 8:30 pm, in the Jean-Baylet Hall, with a concert by Moissanite singer Jérémy Cordeiro.

This concert is organized by the Constance la petite guerrière astronaute association, the Departmental Union of DS 82 Associations, in partnership with the city of Valence-d’Agen and the Deux-Rives community of communes.

An evening dedicated to blood, bone marrow, and platelet donations. The proceeds from this charity event will also help hospitalized children and their families, as well as raise funds for pediatric cancer and leukemia research.
